10 Albums to Look Forward to in March 2026
February ended with a bang, and March promises to keep the momentum going with a slate of top-tier releases. We’ve picked out ten highlights you won’t want to miss.
Now that February is in the rear view mirror, here’s a preview of our most anticipated March releases.
For a more comprehensive overview of upcoming releases, our Release Schedule has you covered:

6 March
Bonnie “Prince” Billy – We Are Together Again (No Quarter)
[Bandcamp] Singer-songwriter/Indie folk 🇺🇸
By my count, We Are Together Again will be Will Oldham’s thirty-first album (if you include collaborations). If you’ve kept up with the Louisville, Kentucky singer-songwriter religiously, you’re doing far better than I am. Still, last year’s The Purple Bird was a welcome reminder that Oldham still has plenty of gas in the tank, and the two early singles suggest We Are Together Again has the potential to maintain this momentum at the very least. (DC)
Shabaka – Of the Earth (Shabaka Records)
[Bandcamp] Jazz 🇬🇧
Shabaka Hutchings, formerly the leader of British jazz juggernaut Son of Kemet, returns with his second solo project, Of The Earth. Following the release of two early singles that span a range of styles from cosmic to carnavalesque, the saxophonist and clarinetist appears to be taking a departure from the ambient-leaning instruments of 2024’s Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge His Grace. 13 March
Cut Worms – Transmitter (Jagjaguwar)
[Bandcamp] Indie pop 🇺🇸
I’ve only heard three tracks from Max Clarke’s fourth record as Cut Worms, but they sound pretty special. Jeff Tweedy’s production exudes the warmth of late ’90s Wilco, and Clarke’s songwriting taps into Americana, classic singer-songwriter, and even power pop at times. Transmitter has real potential—here’s hoping it lives up to it. (DC)
20 Mar
Colleen – Libres antes del final (Thrill Jockey)
[Bandcamp] Ambient/Electronic 🇫🇷
We gave the debut album from French ambient musician Colleen an ecstatic 9/10 rating back in 2003, so it’s only fair we check back in to see what she’s up to 23 years later. Libres antes del final (“Free before the ending”) was inspired by her decision to re-learn how to swim, and promises to be an ode to movement and freedom. (DC)
27 Mar
Courtney Barnett – Creature of Habit (Mom+Pop)
[Bandcamp] Indie/Alternative 🇳🇿
Courtney Barnett has been a longtime favorite of this site since she got her start. Check out any of our past year-end lists, and you'll notice that she'd had a few top 20 placings. So it's no surprise that her first mainline album in five years is one to look forward to. Written after Barnett relocated from her native Australia to Los Angeles, Creature of Habit's first two singles feature a slick, guitar-driven groove that is perfect for a warm, 70-degree spring weather drive. (JR)
New German Cinema – Pain Will Polish Me (Felte)
[Bandcamp] Synth-pop 🇬🇧
No, we’re not suddenly covering film retrospectives on the works of Rainer Werner Fassbinder or Wim Wenders. New German Cinema is the side project of Jessica Weiss of Fear of Men, one of the better indie pop bands of the 2010s, which has been inactive for ten years. One of the advance singles, the synth-driven “My Mistake,” features Carson Cox of Merchandise on vocals—another sorely missed band that had its moment in the 2010s. I'm feeling old just writing about this. (JR)
The New Pornographers – The Former Site Of (Merge)
[Bandcamp] Indie rock/Power pop 🇨🇦
Following the abrupt departure of their drummer, Joe Seiders, who faced child pornography and privacy invasion charges, the New Pornographers try to move forward with their first release since 2023’s Continue as a Guest. The transition will likely be challenging for the Canadian/U.S. musical collective, whose notably optimistic and upbeat music frequently contrasts with the darker themes conveyed in their work. But if anyone can do it, it’s them. (JR)
Robyn – Sexistential (XL)
[Bandcamp] Art pop 🇸🇪
Has it really been 19 years since “With Every Heartbeat” and 16 years since “Dancing On My Own”? Unlike so many other zeitgeist-capturing pop provocateurs, Swedish icon Robyn’s most effective material still sounds eerily fresh. Sexistential promises a return to her Body Talk era and that’s absolutely fine by me, because hardly anyone is making art pop of that calibre in 2026. (DC)
Snail Mail – Ricochet (Matador)
[Bandcamp] Indie rock 🇺🇸
Lindsey Jordan has taken her time on the follow-up to 2021’s acclaimed Valentine, which is apparently coloured by “the anxiety of watching life slip through your fingers.” Early singles “My Maker” and “Dead End” suggest that Ricochet will deliver the goods. (DC)
The Twilight Sad – It’s the Long Goodbye (Rock Action)
[Bandcamp] Indie rock 🇬🇧
Glasgow miserabilists The Twilight Sad return after a seven-year absence with It’s The Long Goodbye. Written following lead vocalist James Graham’s loss of his mother to dementia, the album promises another cataclysmic, but ultimately hopeful, body of work. Look out for first single, “Waiting for the Phone Call,” a thrilling synth rocker featuring the band’s most fearless cheerleader, Robert Smith of the Cure, on guitar. (JR)
