Welcome to The Singles Bar - it's our obligatory, contractual-requirement Christmas edition! However, sad news, this is also the LAST EVER Singles Bar column. Like the mince pies and brandy cream that are currently in my fridge, we will not be seeing 2013.

It's only two weeks to Christmas, and yet the singles charts are still looking decidedly un-festive. Can your hosts at The Singles Bar find their holiday spirit and rediscover the meaning of Christmas? Probably not, so we'll just have to make do with the new tradition of picking apart the latest X Factor winner's single instead.

Welcome to The Singles Bar Christmas extravaganza! We've got everything you could wish for in our festive assortment: reality TV show contestants, The Wurzels, cover versions, charity choirs, Radiohead. Wait, Radiohead? At Christmas?

Still no Joe in the Singles Bar this week, but we do have the X Factor winner's single, and a round-up of festive-themed releases. 

It's fairly quiet in the Singles Bar this time, which is probably just as well as Joe's not available to review this week's new releases. But, even though it's an unexceptional line-up, that's not to say that there's nothing of interest on offer.

 Jeff Buckley's beatific Cohen cover is challenging Simon Cowell's evil empire this Christmas. And this is a good thing?
