On!Air!Library! On!Air!Library!

(Arena Rock Recording Co.) Rating - 7/10

The first thing to point out about On!Air!Library! is that they honestly sound like no other known band. While endless influences could be read into their music, it's safe to say they've secured something that will turn heads.

Their self-titled debut album is a mish-mash of synthetic futurism that was envisioned throughout a number of instrumental experiments. I think it's safe to say a lot of the time, On!Air!Library! doesn't exactly sit down with a pen and paper and write their music as much as explore their gear for agreeable noise. Fell To Earth is a case in point. There is no real structure to the song, it just floats amongst a series of noise bursts, including the vocals of twin sisters Alley and Claudia Deheza and Phillip Wann. Bread shows marginal structure, but transforms the band's sound into another entity, namely Cocteau Twins and their angelic, textured pop.

Sam Fogarino, drummer for Interpol, makes a cameo appearance, as well as Brad Conroy of The Boggs, but such attractive assistance is hardly worth mentioning since even their mums couldn't make the identification.

On!Air!Library! is inventive, chilling and boundless, yet you get the sense that the three-piece haven't yet realized their full potential as a working unit.
