Your New Favourite Band #1: The Daydream Club

Your New Favourite Band is a brand new feature series on No Ripcord. Each month, we will be profiling two of our favourite newcomers, publishing a short biography, video, and embedded audio file.

Aside from the all-important No Ripcord seal of approval, there is an additional prize at stake for the most popular of these two artists. The Daydream Club

Leicestershire based acoustic folk duo The Daydream Club consists of Adam Pickering and Paula Walker. The pair met whilst studying at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), and released their debut album Overgrown to positive reviews last November. Their music is a contemporary re-imagining of vintage UK folk, with delicate finger-picked melodies and classic male/female vocal harmonies that bring to mind genre heavyweights like Pentangle and Fairport Convention.

The band released a limited edition 7" single, The Record Shop, to coincide with Record Store Day 2011. A Brixton Sessions video of the band performing this song is featured below:

Neon Love Song sees The Daydream Club switching the acoustic guitar for the piano, and features arguably the strongest harmonies on their debut album. You can listen to it via the Soundcloud player below:
