Your New Favourite Band #2: The Savage Nomads

Your New Favourite Band is a brand new feature series on No Ripcord. Each month, we will be profiling two of our favourite newcomers, publishing a short biography, video, and embedded audio file.

Aside from the all-important No Ripcord seal of approval, there is an additional prize at stake for the most popular of these two artists. The artist whose profile article receives the most 'Tweets' and Facebook 'Likes' will win the title of No Ripcord Readers New Artist of the Month along with one month's worth of free banner advertising on the website. So please bear this in mind and use our Social Networking buttons judiciously to vote for your favourite.

The Savage Nomads

Hotly-tipped Londoners The Savage Nomads may have only released their debut single last week, but the young four-piece can already boast one high profile fan in Mick Jones. In fact, the Clash legend rates the band so highly that he even invited them to support Big Audio Dynamite at a couple of London dates last month. Celebrity backing is very helpful from a PR perspective, of course, but it can only take a band so far. Thankfully, as The Magic Eye aptly demonstrates, The Savage Nomads have got the tunes to capitalise on this early buzz and win over some genuine fans. The intro recalls another young London act, The xx, but the rhythmic guitars that emerge later on are far more muscular, bringing to mind the likes of Foals and Deerhunter:

What The Angel Said is the lead track from the band's only other release, digital only EP What The Angel Said:
